US News & World Report Honors 2018 Audi Q5 and A6 with "2018 Best Cars for Families" Awards

Big news from the New York International Auto Show in March. Considering 127 new 2018 cars across 11 classes, and evaluating professional reviews, safety ratings, reliability indices, seating and cargo capacity, and available family-friendly features, the global consumer authority named each new Audi vehicle a "Best Luxury Compact SUV" and "Best Luxury Midsize Car" respectively. That tied the Four Rings for most awards earned from the expert by an individual brand.

For those here at our Shrewsbury, MA Audi dealer, it was certainly understandable. The elements noted by the advice, analysis, and rankings professional were among some of our favorites.

For one, the stellar suite of Audi driver-assist tech. Each model showcases, for example, standard Audi pre sense® basic and city, which join forces to take preventative measures to help prepare for a potential collision. You can also find features like Audi pre sense rear available. This system monitors traffic behind and can take similar precautions. Let us not forget Audi side assist either, a blind spot monitor that employs exterior side-mirror LED indicators to keep you informed of approaching vehicles.

But each model's accolades came down to specifics. 2018 Q5, in its third awarded year, saw appreciation not only for its sporty sedan-like performance, SUV versatility, and ample room for up to five passengers. It received praise for its sterling crash test credentials, active safety features, standard quattro® all-wheel drive, and a load of high-end in-cabin technologies. The latter include MMI® all-in touch infotainment components like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a standard Audi smartphone interface, Audi connect® services, an available color head-up display, and a sprawling 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit screen with Google Earth integration. In all, they made for superior viewing quality and easier control at the reviewer's fingertips.

2018 A6, in addition to capturing attention with its 2.0T front-wheel-drive and 2.0T quattro AWD variants, did so with a 3.0-liter TFSI® V6 engine newly revised for 2018, wraparound dash design, and the lap of luxury afforded by eight-way power front comfort seats and space for up to five. Of course, the commentator was quick to point out the exceptionalism of features like available MMI navigation plus infotainment with the convenience of voice control, MMI touch with handwriting-recognition technology for simple manual data entry, and Audi advanced keyless start, stop and entry, among others.
